I have a (somewhat) healthy addiction to this amazing creation, and I go through tubs of it at home, so I thought I'd save myself some pennies and have a go at making my own..and I threw in a few tasty surprises too..
Ingredients
200g peanuts, skins on
1 cup raisins
1 tbsp honey/agave
1 tsp cinnamon
Pop the ingredients into a food processor and wizz em all up..it's as simple as that!
Making sure to wipe down the sides every couple of minutes to ensure all the mix is combined...and, because they're not roasted, all the nutrients are still intact..so you get all the goodness from these joyous little peanuts!..
You can use other types of nuts too, almond nut butter is another favourite and also hazelnut butter..quite excited to try these ones out next time :)
Nice! I like the idea of the extra ingredients. I usually just a add a little salt, or nothing at all. btw, what brand of food processor do you use? We have a Magimix, but it doesn't seem to like pulverising dried fruit much, soaked or not- we've had to replace the spindle twice now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yogi, I quite like adding a little salt sometimes too, was quite tempted to try adding cocoa powder but not sure if it would be a bit too rich. we've got a kenwood blender, it's quite a good one but just have to be careful when using dried fruit too as it can stick to the blade and slow it down..i usually soak dried fruit in a little water beforehand which helps, also i've started to soak nuts now too as they can slow down the blender, always get a little on edge when using them..think it's the loud noise they make..seems to scare me a little and i have a fear of breaking them!
